The Tale Of The 16 Cups...

How does one start a post about cups? Well like that I guess.
See, I am very picky and sensitive about my cups and what can be served in them.
I basically have one rule. It is very important though.

DO NOT bring me a cup with any type of cold liquid (especially water) with the only exception of milk.

I think milk can go either way. Hot or cold. Kind of like how bisexuals can go either way. Is that only funny to me now? I might have that in common with my brother. Anyway, I really don't mean anything bad by it heh.
So. Every time my Chris brings me yet another juice, soda or water in a cup (most often in the tiny brown cup on picture #15) I nearly have a nervous breakdown. I almost cry to him telling him how he doesn't love me enough, because if he did, surely he would remember that I HATE cold drinks in a cup. Then he looks at me like a puppy that isn't sure what he did wrong, lying there all cute next to a chewed up slipper, and says to me: "well you wanted a juice, I brought you a juice, of course I love you don't be ridiculous". Another time when I accuse him of not loving me is when we are on the road and stop to get gas and a drink. I ask for my diet whatever and he comes back and hands me the bottled drink. That to me is like slapping me in the face. What did I do to you to deserve bottled drink? Didn't we just laugh at that joke couple of minutes ago!? Was that fake. Did he not get my joke? WHY did he bring me bottled drink!?!?!? And then I go again with my preaching how a fountain drink with a straw to me is not even like a drink but almost like a dessert. I have it and every sip of it is little sweet pleasure. Drinking out of the bottle hurts. Its like being on a stupid reality TV show when they challenge you to eat something gross. I routinely make a mad/pouty face and don't drink it. Ah...

Back to the cups. The above picture shows all the cups in our house, or better say all the kinds of cups we have. We have two of some, and we have SIX!!! of one of them.
So lets see cups by the #:

1. Oh look. Talk about the devil...it is the cup that we have six of. This sentence doesn't work. We have six of these cups. Yes. It is a default IKEA cup that looks nice hanging of our wall shelf unit.

2. This is Chris's cup. We both got to get a souvenir while we were on the Big Island, Hawaii. I got handmade photo album, Chris got this cup. He tried drinking from it exactly once. He said the coffee tasted disgusting. Now it serves as a space filler on the top of the kitchen cabinet.

3. This cup is just under three years old. I bought it because of its pumpkinish color and the leaf. It is my fall cup, with the exception of last few weeks of the October. For then I have another special cup, #6

4. Walmart cup that has something to do with Chris's Dad John. We cannot remember what it is, but it reminds us of him every time we see it or use it.

5. My Utah Moose cup. The first American Cup I got and the first gift Chris brought me to Croatia. It looked so John Wayne to me when I saw it for the first time...
Not for consuming drinks though, it is just too huge and thick. It is perfect for oatmeal or soup though...

6. My Halloween cup. The only cup in my life the second part of October. And then some :o)

7. Another Chris's cup. That was part of my Valentine's Day gift for him this year and it became his favorite instantly. I got it from Think Geek with a bumper-sticker saying : no, I will not fix your computer. Teheehee

8. Ah, this cup has seen a lot in it's time. This is my old cup from Zagreb that was sent to me in boxes in a container on a ship! I got it when I got my very own coffee maker that was in my room. My bedroom. That was such a cool thing to have. ow if I just wish I had room for a cow, because it was really hard going to get milk from the fridge allllllll the way on the other side of the apartment. Where other people lived. :D

9. My NY cup. I always buy a Snow-globe when traveling to places or through place I don't have a Snow-globe from. They didn't have one so therefore this cup.

10. Another one of my favorites. Very special, and the rose has nothing to do with it. It just happens to be there. Also from Croatia and also shipped. I met this cap on Brac It was there, on the back of the top kitchen cabinet and it was perfect for those morning and afternoon cappuccinos from a bag. Irish Cream flavor. I liked it so much that next year I brought it with me back to Zagreb. It is the tallest cup I ever saw. Avarage width, but doubple higher than normal.

11. Gift from Chris for Valentine's Day several year ago. Or better to say part of the gift. Somehow I ended up using this one the most. You could say that this is my everyday cup.

12. My third and final cup I brought here from Croatia. This one was given to me by a waiter from some coffee shop near to where Maja lives. I wasn't cute or nice so he gave it to me. I shamelessly asked for it. I just wanted to have my very own Nescafe cup without having to call the morning show radio on "Otvoreni Radio" to get one and be cool.

13. This was a gift for Chris from his Aunt Lisa. It has palms and camels on it! He used to keep his pens in it. Now he only has one pen. He carry's it everywhere with him.

14. Is there a more plain cup than this? isn't it beautiful. The clean lines...coffee from it must taste perfect, don't you think?
No. It doesn't. It tastes exactly the same like from every other cup on this list.

15. Do you know I am addicted to IKEA? And don't you think of milkshakes when you see this? I do. And I still went and bought it!? What is wrong with me, now every time I see it I want to eat stuff. It is a perfect cup for a snack though. For that cold milk that you just want a little bit of so you don't want to dirty a whole glass. It is an 8oz cup by the way. i couldn't believe that. No wonder I wasn't loosing weight when I was using regular cups to way a cup. Well they call them cups don't they? Not two and a half cups!

16. Lastly, on of my favorites. An IKEA item. The perfect tea cup. It has everything you would want from one. it holds enough water, it is just beautiful and you think of spa just by looking at it. Who wouldn't want a square wooden spoon and saucer? And I got the Rituals top from Maja two Christmases ago, along with the best tea. Black tea with lime I believe. I still have some because I don't let anyone drink it. Me included! Haahah.....well it was my gift!!!

Indeed. Cups are serious business.

Oh, almost I almost forgot. The Strawberry Cake was delicious. I am planning for next weekend menu today, and I can't wait to start making it and taking pictures!
